As an Assembly Technician, you will be:
- Perform quality inspections at critical control points throughout the production process using appropriate measurement tools and techniques.
- Create and maintain quality check procedures that define inspection criteria, measurement methods, and acceptance standards.
- Manage control charts and statistical process control systems to monitor process capability and detect quality trends before defects occur.
- Establish and maintain the onsite manufacturing feedback loop, communicating quality issues to production teams with actionable corrective actions.
- Conduct incoming material and supplier quality audits to ensure raw materials and purchased components meet specifications.
- Develop jigs and fixtures that enable accurate, repeatable quality inspections and reduce measurement variation.
- Manage scrap tracking, root cause analysis, and corrective action systems to reduce waste and improve first-pass yield.
- Document quality data and prepare reports for management review and customer quality submissions.
- Understanding of statistical process control (SPC) principles and experience maintaining control charts.
- Knowledge of quality management systems.
- Experience conducting supplier audits and managing corrective action processes.
- Strong attention to detail with ability to detect subtle variations in dimensions, finishes, or material properties.
- Problem-solving skills using structured methods such as 5-Why, or fishbone diagrams.
- Ability to communicate quality issues clearly and diplomatically to production teams and suppliers.
- Demonstrated experience contributing to innovation-focused projects, including development of new products, systems, workflows, or construction methodologies.
- Proven ability to generate and implement innovative ideas, improving design efficiency, constructability, automation, or manufacturing integration.
- Background working in new project development, pilot programs, or early-stage project environments where requirements evolve rapidly.
- Comfortable operating in a startup-like or entrepreneurial environment, characterized by fast decision-making, limited precedent, and high ownership.
- Strong collaborator with the ability to communicate and work with cross-functional disciplines, including Engineering, Manufacturing, and Innovation.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Knowledge of fabrication processes including welding, cutting, roll forming, and assembly operations in metal manufacturing environments is preferred
- Experience managing equipment installation projects.
- Be able to operate and assemble components, including the use of screwdrivers, sawers, and skilsaws.
- 1-3 years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or continuous improvement roles within manufacturing operations
- Hands-on experience implementing Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma projects with documented results in waste reduction, cycle time improvement, or cost savings
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Background in quality assurance or quality control within manufacturing environment, preferably in metal fabrication or assembly.
- Proficiency with precision measurement instruments
- Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD) for layout design and equipment specification is also a big advantage
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is highly advantageous
