What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Chemist position at Innospec Inc.?
This position includes the routine analysis of laboratory samples of raw materials and in-process and finished Innospec products, the proper use of instrumentation and test methods, and timely communication with Production and other departments.
This position is for the NIGHT shift.
Essential Functions
- Follow all applicable Safety and Quality requirements conforming to EFfCI/ISO standards 9001 (Quality) / 14001 (Environmental) / 45001 (Safety) / 18001 (Safety).
- Perform routine analysis of raw materials, in-process and finished products including daily checks for required instrumentation.
- Perform calculations for batch adjustments without direct supervision.
- Work a shift without direct supervision.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering.
- Basic Instrumentation Use/Knowledge (Capable of using basic/complex instrumentation).
- Intermediate Test Method Knowledge.
- Intermediate Product Knowledge.
- Communicating results to production.
- Perform wastewater adjustments (High Point only).
- Packaged Material Inspections.
- Boiler Water analysis.
- Instructs and trains QC Associate Chemists
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (Science field)-Chemistry preferred
- Must have basic computer skills including familiarity with spread sheet programs
- 0-2 years of job experience, manufacturing laboratory experience
- Capable of communicating and relating to employees at all levels of the company
- Capable of walking and standing for long periods of time
