Position: Pastry Chef

The Inn at Taughannock Falls, a luxury boutique hotel, with a 140-seat

casual lakeview restaurant and an epic event venue located in

Trumansburg, NY is seeking an experienced Pastry Chef to collaborate

alongside the Executive Chef, Banquet Chef and Event Planners to fulfill all

the dessert needs for the restaurant and event space.

Pastry Chef candidates must have artistic abilities to bake and decorate

world-class cakes and pastries in a visually appealing way.

Our ideal candidate shares our passion for delivering the highest quality

creative food to our guests. Looking for someone to elevate fresh breakfast

by baking fresh croissants, scones, cinnamon buns and home make

muffins for our continental breakfast. Must be experienced in preparing a

variety of wonderful desserts for the restaurant, gluten free and vegan

included. Pastry chef must be willing to train and oversee another kitchen

staff on how to prepare some of the restaurant desserts.

Pastry Chefs main duty is to service our epic event business and must

collaborate brides and grooms to create specialty wedding cakes that are

customized to fit their specific needs, this includes events like birthdays,

anniversaries, and graduations. It is not uncommon to bake two large and

a smaller wedding cakes per week. Serious bonus points for any Pastry Chef who can also bake bread: Focaccia, dinner rolls, and baguettes.

Position offers flexible work hours so the Pastry chef can operate in the

kitchen when the regular kitchen staff is not working.

The Inn at Taughannock Falls restaurant opens in April and operates until

just after Thanksgiving. We also run a very successful wedding event

business, in our Enchantment Garden that has a 6000 sq. ft tent and prep

kitchen that serves up to 300 guests. Last year we hosted close to 95

weddings/events varying in size, at the Enchantment Garden and within the

restaurant.

This 13-acre estate is surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Cayuga

Lake and the Taughannock Falls State Park, which boasts the tallest

waterfall, East of the Rocky Mountains, just steps away from the hotel. Inn

at Taughannock Falls has been in operation for over 75 years and benefits

from high traffic tourism thanks to Cornell University and Ithaca College

which are located just 9 miles away in Ithaca NY as well as some 200

wineries throughout the Finger lakes wine region.

Our Kitchen is expansive and is well-equipped as it continues to grow

throughout the years. The culinary aspect of this business has exciting

future and many opportunities on the immediate horizon as we plan to build

an expansive hotel and enlarge our event business.

Employment Period: This position primarily operates full-time March –

November though part-time and other opportunities may exist December –

February. Off-season hours depend, partially, on the Pastry Chef’s ability to

drive low season pastry business.
