Hawaii Foodbank’s Vice President of Development brings a comprehensive understanding of nonprofit development operations and fundraising strategy, including digital giving, direct response, annual campaigns, donor cultivation, and major gifts. As a member of the executive team, this leader will be expected to establish a clear vision for fundraising excellence, build scalable programs, and drive sustainable revenue growth in support of the organization's mission.


POSITION OVERVIEW


Hawaiʻi Foodbank, the state's largest hunger relief organization, is seeking an experienced Vice President of Development to lead fundraising strategy, donor engagement, communications, and development operations during a pivotal period of growth. Serving communities across the islands through a statewide network of partner agencies, Hawaiʻi Foodbank is expanding its philanthropic impact while advancing its $41 million End Hunger Together capital campaign and strengthening its fundraising infrastructure for the future.


Reporting directly to the President & CEO and serving as a member of the executive leadership team, this individual will lead a growing team of development professionals while personally cultivating and securing major gifts. This position operates in a hybrid work environment, balancing in-person collaboration, donor engagement, community presence, and remote work flexibility. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies that support annual and long-term organizational goals.
  • Lead and mentor a growing team of fundraising, donor engagement, communications, and development operations professionals.
  • Personally cultivate, solicit, and steward major and principal gift donors.
  • Partner with executive leadership, board members, and volunteers to advance fundraising initiatives and donor relationships.
  • Provide leadership for a large-scale capital campaign and other strategic fundraising initiatives.
  • Oversee donor engagement, corporate and foundation partnerships, planned giving, and annual giving programs.
  • Establish fundraising goals, performance metrics, and reporting processes to drive growth and accountability.
  • Serve as a visible ambassador for the organization within the community and among key stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive fundraising leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading major gifts, annual giving, institutional giving, and campaign fundraising programs.
  • Experience securing or supporting six- and seven-figure philanthropic gifts.
  • Proven experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Experience working closely with executive leadership and boards of directors.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and strategic planning skills.
  • Capital campaign leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience within nonprofit, healthcare, education, human services, or other mission-driven organizations preferred.

Salary : $170,000 - $180,000
