Job Summary
Our client, in the industrial and metals industry, is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Controller to build and scale the operational finance framework in a fast-paced industrial operations environment. This role combines deep financial systems expertise with hands-on operational finance, requiring someone who thrives in a dynamic, ever-changing business where no day is the same. You'll work directly with ownership to drive financial clarity, cost control, and margin optimization while building scalable processes that support our continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Systems & Reporting Leadership
- Lead optimization and integration of multiple software systems (ROM, QuickBooks, ProBin inventory management)
- Design and maintain monthly/quarterly close processes finalize accuracy and audit readiness
Operational Finance & Cost Management
- Develop comprehensive cost accounting models aligned to production realities in operations
- Partner with operations to understand cost drivers and identify savings opportunities
- Implement cost transparency mechanisms and variance analysis processes
Strategic Financial Management
- Manage complete AP/AR functions with focus on cash flow optimization
- Develop and monitor budgets with rolling forecasts and scenario modeling
- Oversee working capital management in a business requiring constant metal purchasing
Process Design & Continuous Improvement
- Build scalable operational finance framework including standardized KPI scorecards
- Create process documentation and train stakeholders on financial discipline
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 5 years progressive financial experience in industrial/manufacturing environments
- Demonstrated experience building cost accounting models and managing inventory accounting
- Proven track record implementing financial processes and controls in growing businesses
Preferred Experience
- Prior Controller title at small to mid-market company with full P&L responsibility
- Experience in commodities, metals trading, aerospace, or manufacturing
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (CPA/CMA preferred)
- Aspiring to professional certification with company growth (we can support CPA pathway)
Technical Skills
- Expert-level QuickBooks proficiency (non-negotiable)
- Advanced Excel skills including financial modeling and automation
- Understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory management
- Knowledge of cash flow management and working capital optimization
