Project Cost Accountant
Location: West Columbia, SC Charleston, SC or Raleigh, NC
Position Summary
The Project Cost Accountant works with project managers to ensure accurate invoicing, compliance with contract terms, and timely financial performance tracking.
Key Responsibilities
This position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods.
Expected Hours of Work
The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule. This is an onsite position reporting to the ICE office 5 days a week.

Position Summary
The Project Cost Accountant works with project managers to ensure accurate invoicing, compliance with contract terms, and timely financial performance tracking.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process client invoices, including progress billing, time-and-materials, and lump sum contracts
- Partner with project managers to validate billable costs, contract terms, and billing schedules
- Track project costs (labor, materials, subcontractors) to ensure alignment with billing and revenue recognition
- Manage WIP schedules and support revenue recognition in accordance with contract terms
- Resolve billing discrepancies and respond to client inquiries in a timely manner
- Prepare monthly cost reports, billing forecasts, and variance analyses
- Ensure compliance with contracts, company policies, and accounting standards
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent work experience
- 3 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in engineering, construction, or related industries
- Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition
- Proficiency in accounting software and Excel (advanced skills preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines across multiple projects
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Associate's degree required or relevant work experience. Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred.
- Experience with a comprehensive accounting system (Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint experience is a plus)
