POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under the immediate direction of the Sign Shop Manager, this position will fabricate, assemble, rework, and repair signs by cutting and sheeting aluminum to make sign blank, checking blanks for contamination, degreasing blanks, and cutting, marking, positioning, and applying letters to sign face using squeeze roll machine and additional hand or power tools; Operate fork lift, punch presses, shears, vacuum applicator and small vehicles to complete project efficiently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and utilize sign maker computer to produce cut letters of various sizes in an efficient and accurate manner, according to specifications.
- Assist all divisions with loading/unloading will-call customers and fleet vehicle when necessary.
· Make product deliveries as required. Arrange pick up from UPS or from common carriers & LTL company.
- Gather, lift, and carry inventory items (e.g., reflective sheeting, aluminum blanks, tools, and unfinished signs) to maintain cleanliness, and order of Sign Shop.
- Assist with design of graphics for signs, banners, and decals.
- Assists in ensuring that an adequate stock of sign making materials is maintained.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with plotter and printers, Adobe Illustrator, and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
- 1-3 years’ experience
- Knowledge of sign making methods and techniques; of the equipment, tools and materials used in sign making; of the safety precautions to be taken in working with flammable materials
- Experience and knowledge of important rules and regulations in Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload based on company needs
- Extremely high attention to detail; Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
- Manual dexterity to handle heavy machinery and perform precise cuts of aluminum and vinyl
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency in completing all tasks
- Possessing a helpful, courteous demeanor and exhibit professionalism to represent the Company positively
- When utilizing heavy machinery—must be able to maintain concentration and attention, while being aware of hazards.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Regularly required to stand for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to walk.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Must occasionally push or pull equipment
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
