Community Relations Coordinator
Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota (Hennepin County)
Job Type: Part-Time (15–25 hours/week)
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and relationship-driven Community Relations Coordinator to support community engagement efforts for a leading manufacturing operation in Minneapolis. This newly created position will play a key role in strengthening relationships with local residents, neighborhood organizations, community leaders, and external stakeholders while supporting effective communication between the facility and the surrounding community.
The ideal candidate will have experience in community outreach, stakeholder engagement, communications, nonprofit partnerships, or public affairs, along with the ability to navigate sensitive situations with professionalism and sound judgment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for community members, local organizations, and neighborhood groups regarding community-related inquiries and concerns.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders to encourage open communication and collaboration.
- Coordinate with internal leadership teams, communications, legal, and government affairs partners to ensure accurate and timely responses to community matters.
- Support the development of messaging, outreach strategies, and engagement initiatives related to community concerns and operational updates.
- Track and document community interactions, follow-up activities, and resolution timelines to ensure accountability and responsiveness.
- Represent the organization at community meetings, local events, association gatherings, and select advisory groups or committees.
- Identify opportunities for community partnerships, sponsorships, grants, volunteer activities, and local engagement programs.
- Assist in monitoring community sentiment and escalating issues when necessary to support proactive resolution efforts.
- Prepare reports and summaries on engagement activities, outreach effectiveness, and stakeholder feedback.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in community relations, communications, public affairs, nonprofit engagement, stakeholder management, or related fields.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse audiences.
- Experience handling sensitive or high-visibility situations with professionalism and discretion.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain strong organizational skills.
- Comfortable working with community organizations, local leaders, and cross-functional internal teams.
- Familiarity with community outreach programs, nonprofit partnerships, social media engagement, or neighborhood association structures is a plus.
- Ability to attend occasional evening or weekend events as needed.
