Role: Web Designer / Drupal Themer (Level 2)
Duration: 12 months

Job Summary
Client is seeking a highly skilled Web Designer / Drupal Themer to support and enhance hundreds of Congressional websites. The ideal candidate will act as a proactive technical consultant, handling the full lifecycle of web design projects, including custom Drupal theme development, UX design, and front-end troubleshooting.
This role requires strong expertise in Drupal 10/11 theming, responsive design, accessibility compliance, and advanced problem-solving in a high-profile federal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide design and graphic support for 500 Congressional websites on Drupal and legacy platforms
• Develop and maintain complex Drupal websites with custom theming (Twig, PHP)
• Build sites using Layout Builder, Views, Paragraphs
• Conduct client consultations and gather requirements in person, via email, and phone
• Create wireframes, site maps, interactive prototypes, and design composites
• Translate Figma/Photoshop/Illustrator designs into responsive Drupal themes
• Debug complex CSS, JavaScript, cross-browser compatibility issues
• Support UI issue resolution through the Remedy ticketing system
• Participate in code reviews and follow federal governance and development standards
• Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA and Section 508 accessibility standards
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Strong experience in Drupal theming and front-end development
• Expert knowledge of:
o HTML5, CSS3, SASS
o JavaScript (ES6 )
o Twig templating
• Drupal 10/11 theme design and site building expertise
• Advanced Git skills (branching, merge conflict resolution)
• Strong UX and information architecture knowledge
• Ability to troubleshoot deep CSS/JS conflicts independently
• Excellent communication skills with non-technical stakeholders
