Overview
Client is hiring a Technical Writer to create clear, user-friendly documentation for a cloud-based software development project. The writer will work closely with Agile teams, developers, and product managers to produce high-quality technical documents.
Responsibilities
• Create clear and concise documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Work with developers/SMEs to develop user guides, API docs, release notes, SOPs, etc.
• Maintain version control and follow documentation standards.
• Ensure formatting, accessibility, and compliance with agency guidelines.
• Manage multiple documentation tasks and meet deadlines.
Required Skills (5 Years)
• Technical writing in government or tech environment.
• Strong MS Word, Google Docs, Confluence.
• Adobe Acrobat, SnagIT for visuals.
• Experience with Git, GitBook, or similar documentation platforms.
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and ability to read code snippets.
• Excellent writing, clarity, and attention to detail.
• Experience creating user guides, manuals, SOPs, technical documentation.
• Ability to interview SMEs and simplify complex info.
Highly Desired
• Government documentation & accessibility compliance.
• Diagram tools (Lucidchart, Draw.io).
• Basic programming or IT knowledge.
• UX writing experience.
• Markdown, HTML/CSS.
• Experience writing for SaaS or software products.
