Title: Registered Nurse for MedSurg/Tele
Location: Maryville, TN 37804
Shift: Night (3x12)

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical experience across various specialties, including critical care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, and outpatient settings. Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks is highly desirable. The Registered Nurse will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care, performing comprehensive assessments, managing complex medical conditions, and ensuring compliance with healthcare standards including HIPAA and NCQA standards. Experience with specialized procedures such as Botulinum toxin treatment, dialysis, IV infusion, suturing, catheterization, and wound care is preferred. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that emphasizes patient-centered care across diverse populations including long-term care, assisted living, hospice, and acute care settings.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations.
- Administer medications and injections accurately while adhering to aseptic techniques and sterile processing protocols.
- Manage airway support using ventilators and perform advanced airway management as needed.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory testing, specimen collection/processing, sonography, mammography, and medical imaging procedures.
- Provide specialized care for patients with complex needs including trauma medicine at Level I/II Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Center experience.
- Assist with invasive procedures such as catheterization (cardiac or urinary), spinal taps, gastric lavage, tube feeding management, ostomy care, and dressing changes like suturing.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly within EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner ensuring compliance with medical records standards.
- Coordinate discharge planning and case management for post-acute care or outpatient services.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in various settings including ICU, PICU, neonatal units with ventilator management or neonatal ventilator experience.
- Educate patients and families on health coaching topics such as chronic disease management (e.g., infectious disease care), pain management strategies, nutrition counseling, family planning, or dementia/dementia care.
- Maintain infection control protocols to prevent healthcare-associated infections and ensure patient safety.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives aligned with NCQA standards and hospital accreditation requirements.
Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
- Proven experience in diverse clinical environments such as hospital medicine (including ICU/trauma centers), emergency room/urgent care, outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities (including nursing homes), assisted living or hospice & palliative medicine settings.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures performed.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is preferred.
- Ability to perform advanced skills such as IV insertion/infusion therapy, phlebotomy/venipuncture, sterile technique for wound suturing or dressing changes.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations including children (pediatrics), neonatal infants (neonatal ventilator), elderly patients (geriatrics), individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities.
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to triage effectively in emergency situations; experience in trauma medicine or Level I/II trauma centers is advantageous.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and OSHA standards related to aseptic technique and sterile processing.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within multidisciplinary teams; excellent communication skills are essential.
