What are the responsibilities and job description for the Systems Administrator position at INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY STRATEGIES INC?
Information Technology Strategies, Inc. is a government IT solutions provider servicing commercial and government initiative in various parts of the United States. We are currently seeking a System Administrator/Azure Engineer to work for our company.
Summary:
- Client Agency is the Department of commerce
- Design, implement, and manage Azure networking components including virtual networks, subnets, NSGs, Azure Firewall, VPN/ExpressRoute, load balancers, and routing.
- Support secure and reliable connectivity across Azure Commercial, Azure Government IL5, and Azure Government IL6 environments, including hybrid integrations.
- Implement infrastructure security controls across Azure Gov IL5/IL6 and on-prem environments, including patching, identity integration, monitoring, compliance, and vulnerability remediation.
- Support system, application, and data migrations into Azure Gov IL5 and IL6 environments, ensuring alignment with federal and DoD standards.
- Build and manage Azure infrastructure using DevOps practices and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions.
- Apply performance monitoring, optimization, and cost-management best practices across all cloud environments.
- Partner with operations, security, and mission stakeholders to ensure infrastructure stability and compliance with accreditation requirements.
Requirements:
- Must possess IT-II security clearance or have a current National Agency Check with Local Agency Check and Credit Check (NACLC). (Basic Federal Clearance requirements are U.S. Citizenship, clear criminal history check, no recent or pending bankruptcies)
- Twelve (12) years of related experience
- Hands-on engineering experience within Azure Government IL5 and Azure Government IL6 environments.
- Strong Azure networking skills: VNets, NSGs, routing, Azure Firewall, load balancing, ExpressRoute/VPN.
- Experience with infrastructure security, identity management, hardening, compliance, and monitoring.
- Experience migrating systems, applications, and data into Azure Gov IL5 and/or IL6.
- Proficiency with IaC and DevOps tooling (Terraform, Bicep, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and secure pipeline development in controlled cloud environments.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, diagnostics, and performance tuning.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in hybrid and government cloud environments.
- Completing weekly status reports sharing accomplishments and upcoming work planned
Preferred:
- Relevant Azure certification (AZ-104, AZ-700, AZ-305, etc.)
- Scripting skills (PowerShell or Python).
- Experience working with federal or DoD systems and RMF/ATO processes.
- Familiarity with containers, PaaS services, and modern application hosting models.
