Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Paralegal (Expungement) to support Legal Counsel and the Legal Office. This role involves handling legal research, document preparation, case coordination, and supporting ongoing litigations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Legal Counsel with litigation matters.
- Conduct legal research and prepare affidavits.
- Respond to discovery requests and compile supporting documentation.
- Prepare legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, subpoenas, notices, and witness lists.
- Act as liaison with the Attorney General’s Office for active litigations.
- Research statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, and codes.
- Review Indiana Code and Indiana Administrative Code for potential language updates.
- Maintain legal files, library resources, and ensure documents are properly indexed.
- Process Public Records Requests and expungement orders.
- Manage attendance records and training hours for Legal Office personnel.
- Schedule Continuing Legal Education for staff attorneys.
- Serve as a legislative liaison and participate in interview committees when required.
- Perform general administrative support such as answering phones and document proofreading.
Qualifications
Required Education (must meet ONE of the following):
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 hours in law/paralegal studies; OR
- Bachelor’s degree Paralegal Certificate; OR
- Bachelor’s degree 2 years full-time paralegal experience; OR
- Associate degree in Paralegal Studies (with certification) 2 years legal experience; OR
- Certification in Paralegal Studies 2 years paralegal experience; OR
- PACE, PCC, or CLA/CP certification in good standing.
Additional Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Basic knowledge of LexisNexis or Westlaw preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Publisher.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in proofreading and documentation.

Pay: Up to $20.00 per hour
