Overview
The Event Set-Up Crew Member is responsible for preparing, setting up, and maintaining event spaces, including 33 conference rooms and the Statehouse. The role involves arranging furniture and equipment, setting up audio-visual systems, and ensuring all spaces are clean, functional, and ready for scheduled events and meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, arrange, and break down furniture and equipment for conferences and Statehouse events as per event requests.
- Operate and troubleshoot sound, audio, and visual equipment (mixers, microphones, speakers, monitors, etc.).
- Review event worksheets, plan timelines, and ensure spaces are ready on schedule.
- Prepare event spaces — unlock doors, turn on lights, adjust blinds, and ensure rooms are clean and presentable.
- Handle post-event clean-up, including removing trash and resetting furniture and equipment.
- Clean carpets and floors as scheduled using commercial-grade cleaning equipment.
- Maintain an organized storeroom and assist with inventory tracking.
- Act as the primary contact for weekend events and coordinate with other teams as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service to guests, staff, and event organizers.
- Lead and assist new team members or interns on assigned projects when required.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience:
- At least 6 months of experience moving and setting up furniture/equipment in conference or event spaces.
- 1 year of experience with sound, audio, and visual equipment preferred.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Must be able to lift, move, and transport furniture and equipment frequently.
- Comfortable standing, walking, bending, lifting, twisting, and stooping for extended periods.
- Must be flexible to work weekends and adapt to changing event schedules.
Working Conditions
- Work is primarily indoors in a professional setting; occasional outdoor work as needed.
- Regular physical activity including lifting, pushing, and pulling moderate-weight items.
- Climate-controlled environment with standard safety precautions.
Additional Information
- Position may require quick schedule changes and adaptability to short-notice assignments.
- Weekend work is based on event needs; flex hours provided during the week.
