Position Summary:
The Caregiver provides direct care and daily support to adults with developmental disabilities living in group home settings. This role is vital for ensuring residents’ safety, well-being, and quality of life while promoting independence and community involvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
- Support residents with medication administration and health monitoring as directed.
- Prepare meals and assist with feeding as needed.
- Encourage and assist residents in developing independent living and social skills.
- Accompany residents to appointments, community activities, and recreational outings.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment.
- Document care provided, resident progress, and any incidents or concerns.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established protocols.
- Participate in staff meetings and required training sessions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in a group home setting preferred, but not required.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet all state and organizational requirements.
- Compassion, patience, and a strong commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
