We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Operators to efficiently operate heavy equipment to support underground electrical and utility projects. This role involves site preparation, trenching, grading, loading, and exaction work while following project plans, safety guidelines, and company procedures. The operator works closely with foreman and crew members. Success in this role requires strong equipment operating skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality, productivity, and teamwork in a fast-paced construction environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate various heavy construction equipment to complete daily construction tasks.
- Perform service, safety checks and basic preventative maintenance on equipment
- Perform trenching, grading, digging, and backfilling
- Read and follow project plans, grade stakes, and field instructions.
- Comply with proper safety standards and expectations
- Visually assess digging areas to ensure it has been properly staked/located prior to digging
- Communicate effectively with crew members and site leadership when not operating equipment
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
- A high school diploma or GED (community/technical college degree a plus, but not required)
- Prior experience in operating excavators in utility or site construction
- Strong attention to safety, accuracy, and teamwork.
- 2 years of Operating Experience preferred
- Good driving record
- Have full mobility, the ability to lift 50 pounds and work with your hands above your head
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and climb stairs/ladders
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Equipment Operator Certification preferred but not required
- Willing to work 40–55 hours per week, 5–6 days a week
Compensation
- Weekly pay via direct deposit
- Competitive pay based on experience and certifications
