An established and growing multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Mechanical, Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineering Team Leader to join its Orlando, Florida office. This leadership opportunity is ideal for a licensed Mechanical Engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys combining technical expertise, project leadership, team development, and client engagement.
As a key member of the leadership team, you will oversee the Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Engineering group while managing a diverse portfolio of commercial, institutional, and public-sector projects. You will have the opportunity to influence project outcomes, mentor engineering professionals, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical direction, mentorship, and professional development support to engineers, designers, and technical staff.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering projects from concept through completion.
- Lead the design and delivery of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for commercial, institutional, and public facilities.
- Develop project proposals, scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and resource plans.
- Conduct and oversee site investigations, field assessments, and construction-phase services.
- Ensure project deliverables meet applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and quality expectations.
- Review and approve engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and contract documents.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, architects, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities and support business development initiatives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience leading technical teams.
- Proven experience serving as a lead engineer or project manager on complex, multidisciplinary engineering projects.
- Extensive knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Strong understanding of applicable building codes, industry standards, and engineering best practices.
- Demonstrated success managing engineering teams and delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Experience working on commercial, institutional, government, aviation, or public-sector projects.
- Multi-state engineering licensure experience.
Licensure Requirements
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida, or ability to obtain Florida reciprocity within six months.
- Ability and willingness to obtain licensure in additional states as needed.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
