Shipping & Receiving Clerk

The hours are 7:30 am to 4 pm.

Works under general supervision to prioritize work orders and coordinates with supervisors to expedite filling requests for parts. Performs any combination of the following tasks to receive and/or store parts and materials for manufacturing operations:  reads production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed. Maintains accuracy of inventory. May be assigned to one particular work center or various work centers.

Essential Functions of the Job:

1.     Picks/Pulls customers sales orders, manufacturing work orders, and engineering work orders from various locations within the plant.

2.     Records amounts of material/components consumed on sales orders and/or work orders by accurately keying transactions into RF Smart via RF Gun or desktop computer.

3.     Packs customers sales orders either for small package or LTL shipment following all packing procedures implemented as distribution packaging requirements at the time of the shipment.

4.     May process shipments via small software or logistics software for LTL shipments.

5.     Required to operate sit-down, reach truck, and order pickers forklifts.

6.     Accurately labels all sales orders and/or work orders.

7.     Uses RF Scanner Gun and/or desktop computer to access information or verify data.

8.     Follows up on any inaccuracies or discrepancies and coordinates with proper personnel.

9.     Notifies production planners or supervisor of shortages in material required to complete any order.

10.   May assist in packing and loading whole good product.

11.   Assist in put-away process from receiving area using RF Scanner Gun or desktop computer to ensure all material/components are delivered to proper facility stocking location.

12.   Required to use weight counting equipment to count higher quantities for distribution to manufacturing work orders or customer sales orders.

13.   Assists in training new employees.

14.   Determines availability of stock manufactured or purchased components.

15.   May assemble or dis-assemble components to complete order requirements.

16.   Sorts and places materials or components on racks, shelves or in bins according to predetermined

        squares such as size, type, style, color or product code.

17.   Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards or

        ensures compliance with height, weight, and length.

18.   Counts inventory via cycle count list or physical inventory.

19.   May compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.

20.   May process shipments conforming to company receiving procedures implemented at time of shipment process.

21.   Performs material receiving functions. Identifies, records, labels, and places materials into stock. Follows up with appropriate paperwork including purchase orders and RMA’s.(returned goods)

22.  May make adjustments or repairs to articles in stock or cut stock to fill order requirements.

23.  Coordinates with Engineering, Production Control, Purchasing, Shipping, and Customer Service for work orders, requisitions, and customer orders.

24.  May expedite parts through the production processes to complete orders.

25.  Assists team members with trouble shooting problems.

26.  May back up Supervisor in his/her absence.

27..  Completes all necessary documentation/paperwork accurately

28.  Coordinates with Customer Service for orders requiring special handling or orders with difficult parts and serial numbers for accuracy.

29.  Coordinates with Purchasing and Production Control to ensure timely delivery and production of parts for customer orders.

30.  Reviews orders to ascertain catalog or part number, size or quantity, of merchandise required.

31.  Assists in maintaining quality of goods to be shipped.

32.  Coordinates with departmental supervisors and/or leads to determine status of manufacturing process of needed parts.

 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

1.     Problem solving skills.

2.     Ability to operate Order Picker, Reach Truck, and Sit-Down Forklift,

3.     Basic math skills and computer data entry skills.

4.     Must be physically capable of lifting, pushing or pulling 35 pounds alone.

5.     Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

6.     Ability to determine differences between manufactured and purchased components.

7.     Ability to apply reasoning and judgment skills.

8.     Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and prioritize work.

Education and Experience:

1.     High school diploma or GED required.

2.     Minimum of 24 months of experience in warehouse material handling required.

Working Conditions:

1.     Ability to lift, push or pull up to 35 pounds alone and greater than 35 pounds with assistance.

2.     Must be able to stand for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours) as required by tasks being completed.

3.     Ability to wear appropriate PPE, including hearing/eye protection, gloves and safety shoes.

4.     Must be able to work overtime as needed to complete job assignments.

5.     Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing plant environment.

6.     Must be able to work in confined spaces.

7.     Must be able to tolerate heights.

8.     Frequent walking, bending, stooping, reaching and climbing as required by tasks being completed.
