Duties
- Receive and review incoming patient referrals from various sources, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate
- Verify insurance coverage, including managed care plans, health insurance policies, and prior authorization requirements
- Schedule new patient appointments efficiently, coordinating with healthcare providers and patients to optimize scheduling flow
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) and medical records with strict adherence to clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding referral status, appointment details, and insurance requirements via phone or electronic messaging
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure all referral information aligns with medical terminology standards and office procedures
- Maintain accurate records of all referral activities, insurance verifications, and correspondence in compliance with healthcare regulations
Experience
- Prior experience working in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is required
- Knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care plans, and prior authorization procedures is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and medical terminology is required
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in high-pressure situations
