What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer: Earned Income Strategy position at Ineffable Films?
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections.
Our organization has identified some potential earned income revenue streams. We would like to partner with a business strategist that can help us evaluate the feasibility and sustainability of these earned income streams. The business strategist would assess the viability of each income stream based on factors like market demand, competition, costs, scalability, and potential risks. We need assistance in determining if the income streams are sustainable in the long term and if they align with your organization's values and capacity. The strategist would then help us define specific financial goals for our earned income strategy, such as revenue targets or profit margins. Then we will determine the pricing structure for our products or services, considering factors such as market rates, value provided, costs, and target audience affordability. The strategist will help us ensure that our pricing strategy enables sustainability and covers all relevant costs, including production, marketing, overhead, and personnel. This project is the cornerstone of our strategy to build financial independence and long-term stability for our organization. By creating and managing an all-in-one digital platform tailored for filmmakers, educators, and nonprofits, we will generate earned income through tools that support portfolios, submissions, fundraising, volunteer and donor management, and impact reporting. Volunteers joining us in this effort will play a crucial role in developing and refining these systems, helping us establish sustainable revenue streams that keep our mission-driven services accessible and thriving. Your work will directly empower creative communities and educators by providing them with the technology they need to grow, connect, and succeed. Together, we’ll build a self-sustaining ecosystem that amplifies diverse voices, nurtures cultural exchange, and strengthens community impact—ensuring our nonprofit’s mission continues to flourish for years to come. We have already identified several revenue streams where our nonprofit has expertise and can potentially offer products or services that align with our mission. We have also identified our target audiences and understand the needs and preferences of your potential customers or clients. We will also supply the strategist with our financial information, including the operating budget.

Mission: Ineffable Films is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young filmmakers from international lineages to tell the human journey of awakening in a world different from them, yet one they cannot abandon. We explore narratives that expose and celebrate the cultures, ethnicities, and communities of worlds both real and imagined. Our mission is to support these teenagers, especially those from BIPOC backgrounds, in telling their unique human journeys through the powerful medium of film. We operate primarily in the Greater Boston area, including Somerville, Cambridge, and Brookline, with aspirations to expand our reach and impact.
