Consultant - Hardware IP Focus

Keystone is a premier strategy and economics consulting firm solving the most complex challenges of competition, strategy, and intellectual property for leading technology firms and global brands. We work at the forefront of influential technology cases changing consumer behavior and regulation laws and impacting society on a global scale. Keystone brings an interdisciplinary approach, leveraging the intersection of economics, technology, and business strategy to deliver transformative ideas.

We are hiring a Consultant in the US to focus on IP and strategy matters related to hardware technologies. You’ll work with clients navigating high-stakes disputes and strategic decisions, such as assessing whether a GPU used in an AI data centre application may infringe upon another company's chip design. These engagements require strong technical understanding and commercial insight.

Who we’re looking for:
We are particularly interested in candidates with a background in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, ideally with experience across hardware systems. This might include circuit design, semiconductor process technology, network architecture or systems engineering. Many of our matters focus on the lower levels of the technology stack, and your ability to speak fluently in that space will be essential.

Candidates often bring a mix of:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field, ideally at postgraduate level (Masters or PhD)
  • An MBA or equivalent commercial training
  • Professional experience at a leading technology firm or in litigation consulting

You might be coming from industry with deep technical knowledge, or from a consulting role with strong client delivery and leadership skills. In either case, we value intellectual curiosity, clear thinking and the ability to lead teams through ambiguity.

Consultants at Keystone drive client engagements by problem structuring, defining workflows, drawing conclusions from complex data sets, generating insights, delivering presentations, and managing relationships. Consultants are a crucial part of our future growth, developing our culture, hiring and mentoring employees, and participating in new business development.

You will drive thought leadership and collaboration to help teams navigate unique challenges, create client solutions that solve complex strategic problems, and answer critical business questions, whilst collaborating with colleagues from diverse academic and professional backgrounds and working closely with faculty affiliates from top institutions including MIT, Stanford and Harvard.

What we offer:

  • High-impact, intellectually demanding work across cutting-edge technologies
  • A collaborative culture with limited hierarchy
  • The opportunity to work on technically rigorous, commercially important matters
  • A strong focus on professional development and mentorship

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline
  • MBA or equivalent commercial training
  • 5 years of post-graduate experience, ideally in consulting, product or strategy roles
  • Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of hardware systems and business drivers
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership experience with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to manage multiple complex workstreams in parallel

We welcome applications from candidates who are available to start immediately.

At Keystone we believe diversity matters. At every level of our firm, we seek to advance and promote diversity, foster an inclusive culture, and ensure our colleagues have a deep sense of respect and belonging. If you are interested in growing your career with colleagues from varied backgrounds and cultures, consider Keystone Strategy.
