Position Overview
Industrial Snow Services (ISS) is hiring Sidewalk Crew Members for the upcoming winter season. This position involves hand shoveling, operating small sidewalk clearing equipment, and applying de-icing materials. This is a seasonal role, October through May, requiring reliable, physically capable individuals who can work long shifts during snow events in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Clear sidewalks, stairs, and building entrances of snow using shovels and snow blowers.
- Operate small equipment such as Snowrators or compact sidewalk plows where applicable.
- Apply de-icing materials (salt or other treatments) to ensure safe pedestrian areas.
- Work as part of a sidewalk crew under the direction of the Site Lead.
- Respond quickly to storm dispatch calls and maintain availability during snow events.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear proper PPE at all times.
- Report icy conditions, hazards, or equipment issues to the Site Lead immediately.
- Assist with cleanup after major snow events to ensure full site safety.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Physically capable of lifting and moving heavy snow for extended periods.
- Ability to work in freezing temperatures and overnight shifts as required.
- Experience in snow removal, landscaping, or construction labor preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with small equipment such as snow blowers or Snowrators is a plus.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and ability to follow instructions.
- Must be drug-free and pass a background check (no convicted felons).
Compensation
- Pay: $30 to $50 per hour depending on experience and availability * Seasonal position (October–May) * Overtime and shift premiums available for long or overnight storms * Referral bonuses available for recruiting additional crew members
