Position Summary

Industrial Refrigeration Pros (IR-Pros) is seeking a dependable and motivated Junior Foreman to help lead a team of Thermal Technicians on commercial and industrial job sites.

The Junior Foreman will work closely with the Foreman, Superintendent, and Project Manager to coordinate daily field activities, assign work, monitor productivity, and ensure that projects are completed safely and according to company standards. This position will also perform hands-on thermal installation work alongside the crew.

The ideal candidate has experience in thermal construction, insulated metal panels, cold-storage construction, or a related trade and is ready to take the next step into a field leadership position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the Foreman with supervising and directing Thermal Technicians and apprentices.
• Help plan and communicate daily work assignments, priorities, and production goals.
• Perform hands-on thermal installation work alongside the crew.
• Assist with the installation of insulated metal panels, vapor barriers, doors, ceilings, walls, and related thermal systems.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, measurements, and project documents.
• Ensure installations are completed according to project requirements, manufacturer specifications, and quality standards.
• Monitor crew productivity and communicate project progress, delays, or concerns to the Foreman or Project Manager.
• Help coordinate materials, tools, lifts, equipment, and job-site access.
• Inspect completed work and assist with correcting quality or installation issues.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, time records, material counts, and job-site documentation when assigned.
• Lead toolbox talks and reinforce company safety policies and job-site requirements.
• Verify that employees are using the proper personal protective equipment.
• Assist with training and developing Thermal Technicians and less-experienced crew members.
• Promote teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and respectful communication.
• Maintain an organized, safe, and clean work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Leadership Responsibilities

The Junior Foreman supports the daily supervision of Thermal Technicians but may not have full hiring, disciplinary, or performance-management authority.

Responsibilities may include:

• Providing daily direction to crew members.
• Monitoring attendance, productivity, quality, and safety.
• Coaching employees on proper installation methods.
• Reporting performance or conduct concerns to the Foreman or Project Manager.
• Serving as the acting crew leader when the Foreman is unavailable.
• Helping ensure the crew has the information, materials, and equipment necessary to complete assigned work.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in thermal construction, insulated metal panels, cold-storage construction, commercial construction, or a related skilled trade is preferred.
• Previous lead, crew-lead, or supervisory experience is preferred.
• Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, and measurements.
• Basic knowledge of job-site safety requirements and construction practices.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to provide clear instructions and work effectively with employees at different experience levels.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to perform hands-on fieldwork while providing crew leadership.
• Ability to travel and work extended hours, weekends, or varying shifts based on project needs.
• Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record may be required.
• OSHA training, lift certifications, or other construction-related certifications are preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
• Ability to regularly lift and carry construction materials, tools, and equipment.
• Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in changing temperatures and weather conditions.
• Ability to work in cold-storage, refrigerated, elevated, and active construction environments.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.

Work Environment

This position is primarily performed on active commercial and industrial construction sites. Employees may be exposed to cold or hot temperatures, elevated work areas, construction noise, dust, moving equipment, and varying job-site conditions.

Travel, overnight stays, and temporary assignments outside the employee’s home area may be required.
