Position Overview
The Accountant II is a key contributor to the financial operations of Industrial Finishes, responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial records and reporting. This position performs a broad range of accounting duties, from day-to-day reconciliations and ledger maintenance to consolidated financial statement preparation, and requires someone who exercises trusted control and sound discretion in handling sensitive financial information.

Primary Responsibilities
- Reconciliations, close procedures & journal entries- Conduct monthly and quarterly reconciliations of assigned accounts, prepare monthly and yearly journal entries, and perform monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables in compliance with GAAP.
- Tax, fixed assets & property management- Manage sales and use tax processes, returns filing and payments, and coordinate exemption certificate management (ECM) with the AR team. Manage fixed assets, depreciation, right of use (ROU) assets, and property tax returns filing and payments.
- Inventory, insurance & subsidiary accounts- Oversee inventory and obsolescence accounting, allocate and track insurance expenses, and maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
- Audit coordination & year-end reporting- Coordinate regular audits for accuracy of accounts and prepare year-end schedules for assigned accounts for review by external auditors.
- Internal controls & cross-team collaboration- Work with the Controller and accounting team members to ensure proper internal controls are in place and maintained. Proficient use of MS Office Suite required.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid foundation in general accounting principles. They are comfortable working independently across multiple functions while supporting the broader finance team's reporting needs. This role requires a minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a business accounting position and a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; a CPA designation is preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of organizational and communication skills, integrity, professionalism, and flexibility, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and perform varied technical accounting and bookkeeping work with accuracy and sound judgment. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. This individual takes ownership of their work and understands the impact of their performance on the company's success, presenting a professional manner in all interactions with both internal and external customers.
