What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Shift Manager position at INDRA AIR TRAFFIC INC?
Manages the manufacturing operation over a shift to achieve the production and revenue plan. Supervises the operations team, maintaining health and safety and site security. Provides direction to ensure factory resources are utilized to support desired goals and communicates issues as needed for resolution.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervision of staff: training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and resolving problems.
- Operational Management: Ensure smooth operations during the shift including managing workflows, addressing any issues that arise, and ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently. Handle emergencies and unexpected situations, making quick decisions to resolve issues effectively.
- Tasking and Scheduling: Creating and managing work schedules for shift employees to achieve fulfillment of the production plan. Monitors labor capacity and staffing requirements to support production requirements. Assign overtime and employ contract staff as needed.
- Compliance: Enforce EHS regulations and procedures to minimize workplace accidents and ensure a safe working environment for all employees. Adherence to company policies and procedures and care of company assets.
- Quality: Monitors performance and the quality of workmanship and keeps subordinates educated and trained for proper completion of duties. Ensure that assemblies and subassemblies adhere to documented specifications. Implement corrective actions when deviations occur.
- Cost Control: Track and manage work order labor variances and scrap; takes corrective action as needed to reduce unfavorable costs.
- Reporting: Communicates routinely with leadership and program department. Prepare shift reports detailing incidents, performance, productivity. Keep management informed of problems, discrepancies and possible product or process improvements.
- Keep informed and possess hands-on knowledge of all processes performed on the production floor.
- Keep abreast of tool and equipment needs, assuring maintenance and upkeep.
- Perform duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in an electronic production environment.
- Minimum 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Ability to read technical documents including engineering bills of materials, drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations at work is desired.
- Knowledge of the electronics industry IPC workmanship standards is desired.
- Must be able to work 1st and/or 2nd shift. (Will start out as First Shift, and will move to either Second or First Shift sometime in 2026)
