Job Summary
We are seeking a registered veterinary technician or veterinary assistant to join our team of six doctors and multiple techs and assistants. Our technicians are highly skilled and highly valued. We are looking for someone who is detailed-oriented in order to provide high quality care to our patients and clientele. We are a fast-paced, walk-in clinic with scheduled surgeries and dental's. Applicants are NOT required to know large animal medicine. Applicants must have one year of relevant veterinary experience, or be a licensed veterinary technician. Candidate must have a great work ethic, enjoys working as a team, self motivated, and is eager to learn.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment, restraining animals, and maintaining a sterile environment.
- Perform animal handling tasks including restraint and ensuring animals are comfortable and safe during treatments.
- Conduct laboratory tests such as blood draws, sample collection, and processing to support diagnostic efforts.
- Maintain accurate records of animal health histories, treatments, and laboratory results using veterinary terminology and record-keeping protocols.
- Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology, assisting with cleaning, polishing, and applying treatments.
- Operate imaging equipment such as X-ray machines to assist in diagnostics while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Manage kennel duties including cleaning, feeding, monitoring animal behavior, and providing pet care that promotes animal husbandry and well-being.
- Assist with animal catheterization, intravenous injections, and other critical care procedures under supervision.
- Support the team in maintaining a clean, organized clinic environment following all safety protocols.
Requirements
- Ability to work as a team
- Able to lift patients and carry equipment up to 50 pounds
- Be able to safely handle and restrain animals
- Be able to perform radiographs
- Perform dental cleanings and dental radiographs
- Be able to maintain high standards of patient nursing care
- Assist doctor's in surgery and diagnostic procedures
- Be able to perform thorough physical exams and obtain patient histories
- Be able to clearly communicate and educate clients
- Collect, prepare samples, and perform lab testing
- Recognize emergencies and triage patients
- Be able to induce, monitor, and recover patients under anesthesia
- Be able to utilize and maintain practice equipment
- Be able to clean and maintain sanitation of facilities and surgical instruments
- Support DEA compliance as it relates to a veterinary technician role
Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
