Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Vocational Specialist to empower individuals with diverse needs to achieve their employment goals. Your responsibilities include:
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the assigned production area
Ensures conformance with production schedules, quality control, and other production-related functions
Oversee the supervision and coordination of client activities to train and improve vocational skills for gainful employment
Coordinates with the Production Manager and Program Staff to implement individual client program plans
Ensures client training aligns with each client’s maximum skill level in the work setting
Directly supervises clients daily to ensure productivity, quality standards, and schedule compliance
Establishes production schedules for the assigned work center
Orders materials and schedules training activities
Provides direct supervision of work center clients and assigned staff
Coordinates material pick-up and delivery schedules to ensure quality production and adherence to timelines
Maintains accurate production records, including:
- Client time keeping and payroll
- Production Billing Invoices
- Inventory
- Shipping and receiving
- Work orders
- Time studies
- Safety procedures
- Client contact information spreadsheet
- Collaborates with the Client Services Department to ensure individual program plans and client goals are properly implemented and maintained
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assigns specific tasks such as cleaning, sorting, assembling, repairing, or hand packing products or components.
2. Demonstrates job duties and observes client worker, performing tasks to ensure understanding of job duties.
3. Direct client workforce in various production tasks, providing training to new and incumbent workers to ensure customer production standards are met and orders are filled in a timely manner.
4. Monitors work to ensure compliance with procedures and safety regulations. Performs semi-skilled assembly and packaging tasks while performing on-going supervisory directions to work force.
5. Directs the training of clients and works cooperatively with Program Staff on the implementation of individual program plans.
6. In coordination with the Production Manager will determine short and long-term production needs for assigned production area, including manpower planning to ensure quality specifications and customer delivery deadlines are met.
7. Sets up production schedule and jobs to assign tasks to clients and assigned support labor. Ensure there is enough production work to keep clients active and that no simulated work is being implemented.
8. Participates in client planning meetings to establish Individual vocational and program goals, reports progress on the client performance and goal achievement.
9. Communicates with Program Staff regarding the implementation of Individual Program Plans coordinating quality services to ensure each individual client receives proper training to become as independent as possible.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Keeps all work areas neat, clean and safe.
2. Demonstrates cooperation in working with other staff.
3. Ensures documentation of productivity is thoroughly complied with a timely manner, including time sheets, performance reviews, quarterly reports, updates, objectives, case notes, and client time studies.
3. Maintain timely and accurate communications in reporting occurrences in training programs with Program Manager.
4. Understands and supports the goals, philosophy and mission of Indianhead Enterprises, Inc.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s preferred) in social work, human services, counseling, vocational or a related field, and at least one year’s experience in working with disabilities and two years’ supervisory experience preferred. Must have the ability to serve as a role model and to teach others proper work habits and social behaviors.

Full-time, non-exempt
WAGE RANGE:
$18-$22
PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
