What You'll Do
- Support the planning, coordination, and daily execution of horticulture operations.
- Partner with animal care teams to manage horticulture within animal habitats.
- Supervise and support staff, seasonal team members, volunteers, and Conservatory animal care staff.
- Support conservation, education, and guest engagement efforts.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate a forklift and bobcat is required.
- Perform quarterly safety inspections in all designated horticulture areas and buildings.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in horticulture or a closely related field is required.
- Minimum of five years of responsible experience in a horticulture-related field, preferably in a public garden, zoo, arboretum, or similar institution with a living plant collection.
- Experience supporting educational programs, interpretive content, public engagement, or outreach related to horticulture, conservation, or environmental education.
- Knowledge of horticultural practices within animal habitats or other complex environments, with demonstrated awareness of animal behavior and safety protocols.
- Possession of a valid Indiana Driver's license with good driving record that is deemed insurable by the Zoo's insurer is required.
