To serve as a professional staff employee of the Indiana State Police whose primary responsibility is to prepare and coordinate the receipt and distribution of all Headquarters mail. This is a dual position that encompasses mailroom and Criminal History duties.
- Prepare, deliver, and pick up all General Headquarters mail.
- Process and ensure proper postage is affixed on all mail.
- Maintain equipment utilized in mail handling.
- Shred Identified documents and maintain equipment.
- Process requests for case reports.
- Gather and sort all incoming/outgoing mail.
- Route General Headquarters mail to its proper destination.
- Sort, wrap, weigh, and place postage on UPS mail.
- Order and pick up mail room supplies from the Post Office and Quartermaster.
- Keep up-to-date on new UPS and US Postage Rules/Regulations.
- Shred documents.
- Complete case reports and Transcript requests: Microfilm, Microfiche, and through RMS.
- Perform Criminal History requests and other duties as needed.
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent GED.
- Ability to learn UPS, US Postal rates, certified and registered mail rates.
- Ability to operate Microfilm, Microfiche, and access RMS.
- Ability to function independently.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be able to apply US postage and UPS regulations.
- Must be able to gather, sort, and distribute mail, packages, and supplies.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
