About The Role
As a Family Advocate for Indiana Donor Network, you will be responsible for initiating donation conversations with the families of potential donors in a critical care setting. You will respond to referrals from local hospitals to collect and communicate data, and evaluate referrals called in by hospital staff. You'll be given the opportunity to facilitate the donation process and support donor families, as needed. The position covers a large geographic territory located primarily in northern Indiana.
Shift Information
This position works a unique schedule. It includes three shifts per week: one 12-hour shift, one 18-hour shift and, and one 24-hour shift. All shifts start from home at 7 am. The 12-hour shift ends at 7 pm. Typically, the family advocate provides support from home after 7 pm on the 18 and 24-hour shift days, but could be needed at hospital sites depending on case activity. Three weekend shifts per month are required.
Who We’re Looking For
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree, or relevant education and experience in a social services or a clinical or related field. Experience in social work, medical social work, nursing and/or respiratory therapy would be helpful. Previous experience in crisis intervention, grief/loss, healthcare, or donation/transplantation is preferred.
