JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Instructor/Fieldwork Coordinator-Physical Therapist Assistant Program
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director for Adult Health Careers, with daily supervision by the Program Chair for the Physical Therapist Assistant program
EDUCATION: Minimum of an Associate Degree Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant
EXPERIENCE: Holds an unencumbered PT or PTA license in any United States jurisdiction and is in compliance with the practice act in Oklahoma.
Evidence of a minimum of three (3) years full-time post-licensure clinical practice in the field of physical therapy/physical therapist assistant. Two years as a site coordinator of clinical education or clinical instructor in physical therapy, or experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a physical therapist assistant education program.
If an otherwise interested applicant does not currently have teaching experience or experience as a CCE or CI, the applicant may have the option of implementing a faculty development plan to facilitate obtaining this experience upon employment. Such a plan would be subject to CAPTE approval.
SKILLS: Adept and current in basic Physical Therapist Assistant skills
Proficient in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising of students
OTHER: Knowledge of current school laws and/or state and federal regulations related to instruction in the classroom.
Knowledge of laws (state and federal), regulations, and accreditation standards related to Physical Therapist Assistants and training programs
DEPENDABILITY: Regular attendance following a designated work schedule.
Must be able to work extended hours and additional days/evenings as required by position responsibilities.
Must be able to attend and participate in meetings/conferences as scheduled within the district, state, and other states.
Meetings/conferences may require overnight trips.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL
STANDARDS: Ability to read, comprehend, and evaluate varied documents, textbooks, reference materials, and models. Ability to speak clearly. Ability to deliver presentations and instructions in logical, sequential order. Ability to freely move arms and fingers in order to manipulate instructional equipment. Ability to stand for long periods of time and to move around the classroom/lab/clinical facility. Requires stooping, bending, pulling, and lifting. Ability to lift 50 pounds from the floor to a four-foot level. Ability to operate a four-wheel vehicle in order to travel.
EMOTIONAL EFFORT: Moderate to extreme. Must deal with multiple students working on a variety of projects/skills simultaneously, and with multiple students in different areas. Must carry out daily and long-term instructional preparations requiring concentration efforts and overtime work. Must deal with student discipline problems, which may create high stress. Must periodically submit required reports within short time periods.

LENGTH OF
CONTRACT: Twelve (12) months- Exempt
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for clinical education coordination and classroom instruction.
