Fleet Mechanic | Milton, NH
Pay: $38.00 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday
Sign-On Bonus: $1,000 for Qualified Hires
Index Packaging is looking for an experienced Fleet Mechanic to join our Maintenance team in Milton, NH. This position is responsible for helping maintain and repair our company fleet of tractors, trailers, and other diesel-powered equipment to keep our operation running safely and efficiently.
We are looking for someone with strong mechanical and troubleshooting experience who can contribute to the shop while continuing to develop their skills in heavy-duty truck, trailer, and fleet maintenance.
What You'll Do:
- Maintain and repair company tractors and trailers
- Diagnose mechanical issues and complete necessary repairs
- Perform routine and preventative fleet maintenance
- Inspect tractors and trailers and identify needed repairs
- Troubleshoot and repair truck, trailer, and air brake systems based on experience and training
- Use diesel diagnostic equipment and software
- Prioritize repairs to help maximize fleet availability and minimize downtime
- Maintain and repair other diesel-powered equipment as needed
- Communicate with drivers regarding vehicle maintenance and repair needs
- Order parts and maintain inventory of commonly used items
- Safely operate shop tools, lifts, and equipment
- Work collaboratively with the Maintenance team to keep equipment safe and operational
What We're Looking For:
- Previous professional mechanical repair experience
- Fleet, tractor-trailer, diesel, heavy-equipment, or automotive repair experience preferred
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to perform repairs independently within your level of training and experience
- Willingness to continue developing heavy-duty truck, trailer, and diesel repair skills
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Reliable transportation
- Personal toolbox
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position
- NH Motor Vehicle Inspection License and air brake experience preferred; training may be available for the right candidate
Training & Development:
Index Packaging is committed to developing the skills of our Maintenance team. Company-paid training and certification opportunities are available based on the needs of the position and the employee's existing qualifications.

- NH Motor Vehicle Inspection License

- Diesel diagnostic laptop/software
- Column truck lift
- Eagle Hook safety
- Forklift certification
- Additional equipment, safety, or technical training as needed
Employees are expected to complete required training within established timeframes. Index Packaging will coordinate and pay for required company-approved training when applicable.
