On-Call Vehicle Transfer Driver — 1099 Independent Contractor
Motor Lane Vehicle Logistics | Tulsa, OK
Motor Lane Vehicle Logistics is expanding in the Tulsa area and is looking for dependable, professional drivers to transport vehicles for automobile dealerships and other automotive clients.
This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity with flexible, on-call work. It can be a great fit for retirees, semi-retired professionals, or anyone with weekday availability looking for supplemental income.
What You'll Do
Drivers transport dealership and customer vehicles from one location to another. Assignments may include:
- Dealer-to-dealer vehicle transfers
- Picking up and delivering vehicles at dealerships and other designated locations
- Trips throughout Oklahoma
- Occasional longer-distance or out-of-state trips
- Completing basic pickup and delivery documentation
- Communicating with dispatch and dealership personnel
This is driveaway work. You will primarily drive the client's vehicle from the pickup location to its destination. This is not a towing or car-hauling position.
How It Works
This is an on-call, as-available independent contractor opportunity.
When a trip becomes available, Motor Lane Vehicle Logistics contacts available drivers with the trip information. You may accept or decline offered trips based on your availability.
There are no guaranteed hours or guaranteed number of trips.
Most opportunities occur during normal weekday business hours, so applicants with flexible daytime schedules are especially encouraged to apply.
Requirements
Applicants must:
- Have a valid driver's license
- Have a clear driving record
- Be dependable and punctual
- Have reliable transportation to and from meeting/pickup locations when necessary
- Have a smartphone and be comfortable communicating by call and text
- Be comfortable driving a variety of cars, SUVs and pickup trucks
- Be professional when interacting with dealerships and customers
- Be comfortable with occasional longer-distance driving
Required After Interview & Approval
Applicants selected to move forward will be required to:
- Provide a current DMV/Motor Vehicle Report with a clear driving record
- Obtain the required Oklahoma tax-exempt status documentation
- The required Oklahoma documentation currently costs $50 and is valid for two years
Do not purchase the $50 Oklahoma documentation before your interview.
Candidates who are selected to move forward will receive instructions after the interview. These requirements are completed at the prospective contractor's expense.
Compensation
Drivers are paid per completed trip, not by the hour.
Compensation varies depending on the trip and distance. Trip details and compensation are provided before you decide whether to accept an assignment.
Independent Contractor Status
This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity, not an employee position.
Contractors may accept or decline offered assignments and are responsible for their own applicable taxes and expenses.
