Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive compliance reviews for LIHTC and Section 8 properties to ensure adherence to all applicable regulations and guidelines.
- Collaborate with property managers, landlords, and tenants to resolve compliance issues through negotiation and clear communication.
- Perform regular audits of property files, rent calculations, income verifications, and tenant eligibility documentation.
- Provide guidance on Fair Housing regulations, HUD policies, and property management best practices to staff and stakeholders.
- Assist residents experiencing homelessness or mental health conditions by connecting them with appropriate social services and crisis intervention resources.
- Utilize property management software such as Yardi or similar tools to track compliance data, generate reports, and maintain accurate records.
- Support high-risk populations by implementing case management strategies that promote stability and access to housing assistance programs.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of LIHTC, Section 8 housing programs, HUD regulations, Fair Housing laws, and property management standards.
- Excellent negotiation skills combined with the ability to handle crisis situations through crisis intervention techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and property management tools like Yardi.
- Experience working with culturally diverse communities and individuals from underserved populations.
- Skilled in social work practices such as motivational interviewing, client communication, case management, and addiction counseling.
- Familiarity with landlord-tenant law and housing assistance programs designed for individuals experiencing homelessness or mental health challenges.
- Ability to manage high-risk cases with sensitivity while maintaining compliance standards through diligent recordkeeping and reporting.
- Strong interpersonal skills for working effectively with clients, landlords, social service agencies, and community organizations.
