Independent Lifestyles Inc (ILICIL) is a looking for dependable, happy, upbeat people for Independent Living Skills (ILS) work. Independent Living Specialist position is designed to help people with disabilities, mental health conditions or chronic illnesses to gain independence and broaden their life skills at home and in the community. Our company prides themselves on creating a supportive, therapeutic, positive environment for the individuals that are served. ILS workers are trainers who work one on one with a person to increase their life skills.
Independent Lifestyles serves 11 counties: Stearns, Benton, Sherburne, Wright, Morrison, Mille Lacs, Kanabec, Chisago, Isanti, Meeker and Kandiyohi. Our offices are located in Sauk Rapids and Specialists will travel to consumers in the 11 county service area.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct training which includes assisting Individuals with identifying goals, then developing and implementing individualized training plans to meet the goals. Training includes but is not limited to the following areas: career/job development, money management, health insurance, daily living skills, household management, mobility, peer support, self and individual advocacy, assertiveness, and socialization.
- Daily travel to meet consumers in the community and/or their home in the St. Cloud, MN (and surrounding) area
- Provide individual advocacy to compliment Individuals self-advocacy, when needed and appropriate.
- Work with consumers one-on-one and in groups, both in the individual’s home or community environment, as is appropriate.
- Facilitate timely completion of Independent Living Plans or goals, providing services according to those goals.
- Maintain appropriate interpersonal relationships with individuals, staff and peers.
- Conduct systems advocacy as opportunities arise or are requested.
- Enter individual’s community goals, services and activities in the agency database
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- human services or related field and experience working with people with disabilities and disability issues.
- Preferred passion and experience working with people with disabilities
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license and a reliable, insured vehicle with a clean driving record
- Maintain professional boundaries & confidentiality
- Be dependable
- Accept & adapt to changes
- Creative thinker & professionally solve problems effectively
- Professional verbal & written communication skills
- Take initiative, work independently with minimal supervision
- Computer skills

Supplemental Pay:
- After 6 months of employment, performance will be evaluated and individuals will receive increases to $19.00 per hour if they meet the requirements: (actively employed and working, meeting performance standards).
