Grave Behavioral Health Technician

Independent Life Company is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and attentive Grave Behavioral Health Technician to join our overnight team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, emotional well-being, and stability of male adolescents in our high-acuity residential treatment program. This is an overnight/graveyard position, and staff must remain awake and alert for the entire shift.

Job Description

The Grave Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for supervising and supporting youth residents during overnight hours while maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment. This role requires the ability to manage challenging behaviors, respond to crises appropriately, and provide emotional reassurance while ensuring all safety protocols and program policies are followed.

Essential Duties

• Provide direct overnight supervision to ensure resident safety at all times
• Monitor youth during sleep hours and ensure adherence to house rules
• Assist with bedtime routines and support youth in settling according to individualized care plans
• Respond promptly and effectively to behavioral incidents or emergencies using de-escalation techniques
• Conduct routine facility safety checks, including doors, windows, and common areas
• Provide emotional support and reassurance to residents throughout the night
• Assist with overnight needs such as bathroom breaks, water, or medical concerns
• Accurately complete shift notes, behavior logs, and incident reports
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with all program policies, procedures, and safety standards
• Communicate effectively with day and swing staff during shift transitions

Qualification Requirements – No Exceptions

• Must be 20 years of age or older
• Must be able to pass an FBI background check and drug screening
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Must have a current and valid driver’s license
• Ability to remain awake and alert for the entire graveyard shift
• Prior experience in behavioral health, residential treatment, or working with adolescents is preferred but not required

• Food Handler’s Permit
• Mandt Crisis Intervention Training
• Trauma-Informed Care Education
• Ongoing professional development and skill-building support

• Ability to work independently during overnight hours
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to learn and apply trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay: $16.00 per hour
