Independent Connection is seeking a team member in the Concordia area! The role available can be full-time or part-time.

Consumer Advocate/Independent Living Specialist

Independent Connection helps people with disabilities be and stay independent in their community. Our mission is to eliminate barriers, so all people have the right to make their own decisions and exercise control over their own lives. All people have the right to pursue success and take risks.

This position is Monday-Friday and in an office environment, where we use a variety of computer programs and equipment to carry out our work.

Your day-to-day will include a variety of tasks, no day is the same.

You will visit with consumers (any age, any type of disability) to learn about their needs & goals and help them grow as a self advocate and:

• Assist consumers in connecting with community partners and resources.
• Help consumers make a plan and learn new skills.
• Research a process and work alongside the consumer to navigate it.
• Participate in trainings to build your skills in goal setting strategies, independent living philosophy, self advocacy, and knowledge of available community resources.

Education

High School Diploma/GED required and at least two years’ experience working with people in an office/service setting. Must be at least 18 years of age and be able to pass background checks.
