The Summer Camp Supervisor is responsible for executing all camp activities, mentoring camp counselors in their professional growth and communicating with parents and other caregivers. The Summer Camp Supervisor will help with hiring Camp Counselors (if time allows), preparing summer programs and activities and will conduct all necessary training of staff with the Director of Education.

Hours: 7:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. Seasonal. Camp runs Monday-Friday, June 22-August 14.

What you'll do this Summer

  • Supervise and manage counselors ensuring that all camp activities are delivered at a high level
  • Plan daily camp schedule and support counselors in planning daily activities
  • Establish rules with campers and staff and review emergency procedures
  • Lead daily staff meetings and manage sign-in and pick-up
  • Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding upcoming schedules, expectations, behavior and other concerns
  • Be a role model for campers and staff, and arrive each day with an inclusive, professional, upbeat, and positive attitude
  • Manage any issues that may arise including, but not limited to, camper behavior issues, parent complaints, etc.

What you bring to the role:

  • Three years' experience teaching young children, bachelor's degree or college coursework in the education, museum studies or related field required.
  • Experience or interest in teaching environmental science and history preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience mentoring young professionals strongly preferred.
  • Willingness to spend considerable time outside and on the water each day.
  • Ability to prioritize the health and well-being of campers at all times.
  • Ability to make decisions and adjust plans in real-time.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other counselors and Seaport Museum staff.
  • Ability to row and maneuver rowboats and two-person kayaks preferred but not required.
  • General knowledge of First Aid/CPR needed; certification not required but encouraged.
  • Upon hiring, a PA Child Abuse History Clearance and State Criminal Record Check are required. (Museum paid)
  • Must be available for all 6 weeks of camp (June 22 - August 14) plus training.
