Intervention Specialist (Mild to Moderate) - High School
Job Description
The Intervention Specialist (Mild to Moderate) is a full-time, certified teaching position reporting to the Building Principal. This educator provides direct instruction and support services to special education and at-risk high school students, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and district regulations. The specialist develops and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborates with general education teachers, supports inclusion practices, and promotes student success through individualized strategies and interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Provide direct instruction in inclusion, resource, or tutorial settings
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and support inclusion in general education classrooms
- Maintain accurate student records and documentation
- Participate in IEP and intervention team meetings
- Evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Liaise with outside agencies and ensure service coordination.
- Assist in the identification and assessment of students with disabilities
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all special education laws and policies.
- Perform assigned duties such as bus, lunch, and hall supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university
- Valid State of Ohio teaching license with Mild to Moderate Intervention Specialist certification
- Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education compliance
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Proficient in using instructional technology and adaptive teaching strategies
