Position Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and hands-on Human Resources Manager to oversee all aspects of HR for our Chester Springs-based operation. This individual will play a critical role in supporting our workforce by ensuring compliance with employment laws, managing all HR functions, and maintaining compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle HR functions: recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, payroll coordination, employee relations, and offboarding
- Ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws and regulations
- Administer and maintain the FMCSA drug and alcohol testing program, including DOT physicals, medical cards, and driver qualification files
- Oversee FRA (Federal Railroad Administration) drug pool compliance and recordkeeping
- Maintain and manage employee education and certification tracking
- Advise managers and employees on policies, procedures, and best practices
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures tailored to business needs
- Manage employee performance review processes and assist in disciplinary actions as needed
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee issues and conflict resolution
- Maintain HRIS records and ensure accuracy and confidentiality of employee files
- Support organizational culture and employee engagement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent relevant experience
- Required: Positive attitude, team oriented, and excitement to learn & grow with Independence
- 2 years of experience in an HR role
- SHRM-CP certification preferred
- Experience with FMCSA and FRA compliance highly desirable
- An understanding of labor laws and HR best practices
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR software systems
Work Environment
This is an on-site role based in our Chester Springs, PA office. Some travel may be required for compliance training or educational management responsibilities from time to time.
