The Role
The Payroll Specialist will serve as the primary payroll resource for the organization, overseeing payroll processing, compliance, reporting, and related analysis. The position supports a workforce that fluctuates with project activity and requires a strong understanding of union payroll practices, labor reporting, and payroll compliance.
In addition to payroll administration, the successful candidate will collaborate with Accounting, Operations, and Project Management on reporting, process improvements, and special projects.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Process and oversee weekly payroll for union and field employees and bi-weekly payroll for salaried staff
- Administer union deductions, certified payroll reporting, and payroll-related compliance requirements
- Maintain employee payroll records and supporting documentation
- Prepare payroll, labor, and workforce-related reporting
- Support audits, regulatory filings, and compliance reporting
- Partner with leadership on payroll process improvements and operational initiatives
- Assist with job costing, labor analysis, and project-related reporting
- Serve as the primary internal resource for payroll-related questions and troubleshooting
Qualifications
- Experience processing payroll in a complex environment
- Union payroll experience is strongly preferred
- Understanding of certified payroll, labor reporting, prevailing wage, or related compliance requirements
- Strong systems aptitude and reporting skills
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and interact effectively with employees across the organization
Compensation & Benefits
- Target compensation $80,000 - $100,000
