Network Engineer

Role Title: Network Engineer – mid level

Location: Edwardsville, IL

Shift: In-office/onsite M-F 7:30-3:30pm 5 days/week

Role Type: Contract, open ended 12 month

Pay: $50hr /- W2 (NO C2C Candidate)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support enterprise-level infrastructure projects in a contract capacity. This role will focus on solution integration, configuration, and delivery within a structured engineering environment, working closely with internal teams, customers, and vendors. The engineer will support projects from initial requirements through build, validation, and transition to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather technical requirements and translate them into build documentation, configuration guides, and as-built deliverables

• Execute integration and configuration of network, wireless, and collaboration technologies based on project specifications

• Support project lifecycle from kickoff through delivery, ensuring alignment with timelines and technical requirements

• Configure multi-vendor networking, server, and storage platforms

• Assist in developing project timelines and estimating technical effort for implementation

• Participate in design discussions and provide input on hardware compatibility, layout, power, and installation considerations

• Perform quality checks throughout build phases, including BOM validation and documentation accuracy

• Lead or support collaboration sessions with internal teams and external partners to refine technical solutions

• Communicate project status, risks, and progress to stakeholders

• Provide knowledge transfer, mentorship, and technical guidance to team members

• Support change management processes and review updates with project teams

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of experience in network engineering or data center integration environments

• Strong troubleshooting skills with ability to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions

• Experience planning and managing technical tasks within defined timelines

• Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation and implementation guides

• Strong communication skills with ability to present technical information clearly

Technical Skills

• Experience with multi-vendor networking, wireless, and collaboration platforms

• Experience with Juniper/Cisco Networks required

• Experience with SD-WAN required, Fortinet experience a big plus

• Understanding of server and storage systems within data center environments

• Familiarity with LAN/WAN and data communications concepts

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, rack elevations, and cabling schematics

• Knowledge of structured cabling systems and industry standards

• Understanding of data center power requirements (kW, amps, phases, UPS systems)

• Exposure to virtualization environments such as VMware vSphere

• Familiarity with enterprise hardware platforms (e.g., blade systems, rack servers, unified computing systems)

• Experience with Cisco or Juniper collaboration technologies (CUCM, SIP, H.323) is a plus

Additional Information

• Role may require background checks or additional onboarding requirements depending on project assignment

• Relevant certifications such as CCNP are preferred
