Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager with a strong background in structural steel fabrication and miscellaneous metals to lead project execution and operational performance across multiple projects throughout New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania.
The ideal candidate will bring deep industry expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a process-oriented mindset to oversee Project Managers, improve operational workflows, and ensure successful coordination between fabrication, production, and field installation teams.
This position plays a critical leadership role within the organization and will work closely with estimating, production, engineering, and executive leadership to drive operational excellence and project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support Project Managers across multiple structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects
- Oversee day-to-day operational execution across fabrication and field operations
- Ensure effective coordination between shop fabrication, production scheduling, and field installation teams
- Drive operational consistency, accountability, and project performance across the organization
- Develop, improve, and maintain operational processes, procedures, and best practices
- Collaborate with estimating, engineering, production, and executive leadership teams to support successful project delivery
- Monitor project schedules, staffing, workflows, and operational priorities
- Assist in resolving project challenges, scheduling conflicts, and operational bottlenecks
- Participate in leadership planning, operational strategy, and organizational initiatives
- Promote strong communication and collaboration across departments and project teams
- Maintain high standards related to safety, quality, client satisfaction, and operational efficiency
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of experience within the structural steel industry
- Strong project management background in structural steel fabrication and/or miscellaneous metals
- Experience managing, mentoring, or overseeing multiple Project Managers
- Proven operational leadership and organizational management experience
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication, production, and installation processes
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Process-driven mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and teams
- Strong knowledge of project execution, scheduling, and operational coordination
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering, construction management, or technical construction background preferred
- Experience working within both General Contractor and steel subcontractor environments highly desirable
- Experience supporting large-scale commercial, industrial, or infrastructure steel projects preferred
- Familiarity with fabrication workflows, shop operations, and field erection coordination
