Position Summary
The Mechanical Assembly Engineer is a hands-on role responsible for supporting projects from kickoff through completion, including fabrication, mechanical assembly, CNC machining, programming, testing, customer inspections, and on-site installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support projects from kickoff through completion, including fabrication, assembly, CNC programming, testing, inspections, and installation.
- Program, set up, and operate CNC milling and drilling machines, including tooling and fixture setup.
- Independently write and configure G-code for CNC machines.
- Fabricate and modify components using CNC and manual equipment.
- Read and interpret 2D blueprints, 3D CAD models, and GD&T requirements.
- Install and route electrical wiring, control cables, and instrumentation according to schematics and applicable standards.
- Assemble and install piping, tubing, hoses, fittings, and manifolds, including leak testing.
- Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material-handling equipment.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues and improve quality and processes.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and workmanship.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Machining, or a related field preferred.
- 5–10 years of hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, fabrication, CNC machining, or a related industrial/manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience with CNC milling and drilling, including programming, tooling, and machine setup.
- Ability to independently write, configure, and set up CNC G-code.
- Experience with manual fabrication equipment such as lathes, welding equipment, band saws, drill presses, manual mills, and hand tools.
- Ability to read and interpret 2D drawings, 3D CAD models, and GD&T.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience assembling, fitting, troubleshooting, and modifying machinery.
- Knowledge of machining fundamentals, material properties, and fabrication practices.
- Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes; certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
