Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Billing Manager to lead and oversee our billing and accounts receivable operations. This role is responsible for managing the billing function end-to-end, improving processes, supporting cash flow initiatives, and leading an established billing team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, process-oriented, and experienced in service-based industries such as construction, property management, facilities services, or project-based operations. This individual must be capable of driving operational improvements while building trust and accountability within a long-tenured team.
Key Responsibilities
Billing & Accounts Receivable Leadership
- Own the full billing lifecycle, including invoice generation, reconciliation, dispute resolution, and collections support.
- Ensure accurate and timely billing across multiple divisions and high-volume projects.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for billing inquiries, discrepancies, and client concerns.
- Conduct monthly billing audits to ensure accuracy, compliance, and completeness of documentation.
- Partner with finance leadership on AR aging, reporting, and cash flow analysis.
Team Management
- Lead and manage the billing team, including Billing Coordinators, Assistants, and support staff.
- Establish performance expectations, accountability measures, and operational priorities.
- Coach and mentor team members to improve efficiency, accuracy, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented culture built on trust, communication, and continuous improvement.
Process Improvement & Operations
- Evaluate current billing workflows and identify opportunities for automation, scalability, and efficiency.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), controls, and best practices.
- Create and track KPIs related to billing performance, aging, dispute resolution, and team productivity.
- Collaborate with operations and finance teams to streamline approvals, documentation, and data flow.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and analyze billing and AR reports, including aging reports, revenue tracking, and billing trends.
- Deliver timely monthly reporting and proactively identify risks or operational issues.
- Support forecasting and budgeting processes with accurate billing data and analytics.
Qualifications
Required
- 5 years of progressive experience in billing, accounts receivable, or revenue operations.
- Minimum 2 years of leadership or management experience overseeing billing or AR teams.
- Experience in high-volume, service-based environments; construction or property management experience strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Advanced Excel and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to improve processes and implement operational efficiencies.
Preferred
- Experience working with government, institutional, or large multi-site clients.
- Familiarity with ERP and billing systems used in service or construction industries.
- Experience managing long-tenured teams and navigating organizational change.

Compensation & Work Environment
- Salary: $115,000 annually
- Location: Brooklyn, NY (onsite preferred)
