Full-Time | Field Technician | Access Control & Cameras We’re looking for a skilled Access Control & Security Systems Technician to join our team. You’ll install, service, and support access control, cameras, and related security systems for a wide range of clients. If you’re hands-on, detail-driven, and enjoy problem-solving in the field, this role is for you. What You’ll Do Install, configure, and service access control and video surveillance systems Troubleshoot technical issues and perform system repairs Support project work by completing field tasks to company standards Work directly with clients and team members on-site Perform system testing, verification, and documentation Maintain clean, organized, and professional work environments What We’re Looking For Experience with access control and/or camera systems Strong troubleshooting skills and comfort working with wiring, low voltage, and networking Ability to read drawings, diagrams, and installation specs Clear communication and a professional on-site presence Strong time management and the ability to handle multiple tasks Nice to Have Familiarity with door hardware, panels, controllers, and system integrations Experience with HID, Avigilon/Alta, Axis, Openpath, or similar platforms Physical Requirements Ability to lift 20 lbs and work on ladders, lifts, ceilings, and outdoor environments
Key Responsibilities
- Security System Installation: Install, program, and test access control systems, security cameras, electronic locks, and related security infrastructure.
- Cabling & Wiring: Run, terminate, and label structured cabling, including Cat5e/6, fiber optics, and low-voltage wiring for security systems.
- Equipment Mounting & Adjustment: Hang and align security cameras, access control readers, and other hardware to ensure optimal performance.
- Panel Wiring & Termination: Wire and connect security panels, ensuring proper voltage and signal integrity.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Conduct functional testing on installed systems, diagnose issues, and resolve technical problems to ensure operational efficiency.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project leads, other technicians, and other trade professionals to ensure timely and successful installations.
- Adherence to Safety & Compliance Standards: Follow company safety guidelines and ensure installations comply with industry regulations and manufacturer specifications.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of installations, configurations, and any issues encountered.
- 2 years of hands-on experience in access control, security system installation, or low-voltage cabling.
- Proficiency in cabling, wiring panels, installing and configuring security cameras, and access control readers.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with low-voltage systems and power supplies.
- Familiarity with security and access control platforms (specific product knowledge is a plus).
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (IP addressing, PoE, basic troubleshooting).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Certifications in security systems and surveillance technologies, including:
- Alarm Technician Certification
- Hanwha Certification
- Avigilon Certification
- Evolv Installer Certification
- Fire Marshal Certification
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
