What are the responsibilities and job description for the IPAS Strategist & Implementation Specialist (Part-Time) position at IMSYS Security?
At IMSYS Security, we resolve operational challenges by applying cutting-edge technology to real-world scenarios. Our mission is to empower organizations with the Intelligent Presence Awareness System (IPAS) — user-friendly, maintainable solutions across Video Surveillance, Access Control, Asset Tracking, and Inventory Control. As we grow, we're looking for a part-time IPAS Strategist & Implementation Specialist to join our team — a role with strong potential to grow into a full-time salaried position with bonus and commission opportunities.
Job Summary
This role is equal parts brains and hands. You'll support both technical and field operations — learning, testing, installing, integrating, and deploying our hardware and software solutions — but we're looking for someone who does more than follow a wiring diagram. You'll read a site, anticipate problems before they happen, and make sound judgment calls when the plan meets reality. You'll work hands-on at customer sites installing and commissioning systems, and partner closely with our team to ensure clean, on-time, on-budget implementations. This is an ideal role for a sharp, resourceful problem-solver who enjoys working in the field and wants to build toward a full-time career in security and operational technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and terminate hardware including video surveillance cameras, access control devices, RFID readers, and door controllers.
- Pull and dress data cabling, drill and mount equipment, and install conduit, power supplies, strike plates, and mag locks.
- Set up, configure, and troubleshoot server software, client software, and mobile devices in the field.
- Configure and maintain LAN connectivity and manage network devices on site.
- Think through problems on site — assess the environment, anticipate issues, and adapt when field conditions differ from the plan.
- Conduct on-site troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
- Implement and commission systems within project timelines and budgets.
- Identify and document business requirements that influence product configuration and installation.
- Develop a working understanding of relevant product technologies, including RFID and intelligent video.
- Provide end-user support and respond to trouble tickets in line with customer service-level agreements.
- Collaborate with Project Management to ensure systems are operational and customers are satisfied.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant hands-on experience, or equivalent technical training.
- Smart, articulate, and detail-oriented — able to think on your feet, communicate clearly, connect the dots, and catch the small things others miss.
- Comfortable with basic hand and power tools — you know how to turn a screwdriver, use a ratchet set, and run a drill.
- Able to lift and carry boxes and heavy equipment, climb stairs and ladders, and work in tight or uncomfortable positions.
- Capable and willing to work at heights, including climbing ladders.
- Willingness to obtain a scissor/aerial lift certification as project needs require.
- Experience pulling data cables, drilling, and installing conduit; experience installing door controllers and readers is a plus.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals (Ethernet, TCP/IP) and basic computer hardware troubleshooting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to travel locally and regionally; most travel is regional, with occasional longer trips.
- Readiness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Reliable vehicle for use to get to job sites or offices.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen due to the nature of our customer base; veterans are encouraged to apply.Desired Qualifications
- Experience with security system implementations, including video surveillance and access control.
- Experience with video management systems (VMS).
- Understanding of RFID technology.
- Prior technical support or help desk experience.
- Familiarity with cloud computing and remote connectivity (VPN).
