Telemetry Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Telemetry Technician / Monitor Technician for a 13-week contract assignment in New York, NY. The ideal candidate will be responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring, ECG interpretation, arrhythmia recognition, and prompt communication of critical rhythm changes to the healthcare team. This position plays a vital role in ensuring patient safety through accurate monitoring and timely response to cardiac events.

Key Responsibilities

·       Perform continuous ECG monitoring and accurately interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias.

·       Identify and promptly report potentially life-threatening rhythm changes.

·       Respond appropriately to monitor alarms and escalate concerns as necessary.

·       Initiate code procedures when required and document cardiac rhythms during emergency situations.

·       Perform EKGs in various clinical settings while ensuring proper electrode placement.

·       Troubleshoot telemetry and cardiac monitoring equipment to maintain accurate operation.

·       Communicate rhythm changes and patient monitoring concerns with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

·       Enter, verify, and update patient information and orders within the electronic system.

·       Retrieve laboratory results and notify appropriate clinical staff of significant findings.

·       Maintain accurate and timely documentation according to facility policies and procedures.

·       Operate monitoring equipment safely while adhering to quality and patient safety standards.

Required Qualifications

·       Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Telemetry Technician or Monitor Technician (Required).

·       Active Telemetry Technician Certification (Required).

·       High School Diploma or GED.

·       Current BLS Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.

·       Completion of a Dysrhythmia/Arrhythmia Interpretation Course.

·       Strong ECG monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills.

·       Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

·       Excellent communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
