Job Summary:We are seeking a skilled and experienced Medical Coder to join our Medical Records team. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT-4, and federal billing guidelines, with hands-on experience in acute care settings. This role requires attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes to ensure accurate coding and compliance. Key Responsibilities:· Perform accurate medical coding for acute care, outpatient, and emergency department (ED) services.· Ensure compliance with ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and federal billing guidelines.· Review and interpret clinical documentation to assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes.· Utilize 3M/HDS coding applications and EPIC systems to process and validate records.· Conduct research on coding-related issues and stay updated with the latest coding regulations and payor requirements.· Provide support and training to coding staff when needed.· Collaborate with clinical and billing teams to resolve coding discrepancies. Required Skills & Experience:· Minimum 3 years of medical coding experience in an acute care setting.· Proficient in ICD-10 coding and knowledgeable in ICD-9-CM and CPT-4.· Hands-on experience with EPIC and 3M/HDS coding applications is required.· Strong understanding of coding guidelines, payor requirements, and federal billing standards.· Excellent computer skills, including MS Word and Excel.· Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Education & Certifications:· High School Diploma/GED required.· AHIMA, RHIA or RHIT and/or CCP, CCS - required
