Maintenance Technician

Job overview
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the proper functioning of the manufacturing equipment at IMS Gear.
Responsibilities
- Ensures that machines are functioning under normal operating conditions, makes necessary adjustments, completes repairs in a timely fashion.
- When making repairs, ensures that machinery and equipment meet operational specifications and tolerances.
- Capable of following troubleshooting standards, and communicating effectively and work with engineering team on complex things
- Self-driven, able to take initiative in determining priority of repairs/projects
- Understanding urgency to troubleshoot machines and bring production back online
- with limited direction.
- Able to read and follow mechanical/electrical/pneumatic diagrams to troubleshoot machine functionality issues.
- Align, fit, and assemble component parts, using hand tools, power tools, fixtures and templates.
- Performing preventive maintenance and verification of in-line quality checks (force transduce, displacement (vdt sensors, vision systems, etc.)
- Identify and resolve potential equipment malfunctions; following 5S guidelines
- Able to document repairs for traceability according to IMS Gear standards
- Strict adherence to lock out/ tag out procedures
- Replaces or repairs machine conveyor components
- Removes dust, dirt, grease and waste material form machines
- Following International Automotive Task Force quality standards – IATF 16949
- problem-solving – working in a Team to fulfill daily production goals
- Escalation of issues to supervisor and manager
- Ensure compliance with company environment and quality management systems, including ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 standards.
- Following Internal Quality Issues procedure – IQI.
- Ensure that safety rules and policies are followed.
- Housekeeping – 6IMS-Standard.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma (GED Equivalent).
- Work experience in a problem-solving manufacturing environment: Not required, 2-3
- Years preferred.
Skills, knowledge, and abilities
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong hands-on problem-solving skills and good manual dexterity
- Technical experience in a manufacturing environment
- 1-3 Years of knowledge in a metal/ plastics manufacturing plant.
- Familiarity with metric measuring systems
- Good ability to work independently
- Good ability to work in a team environment
- Good organizational skills
- Detail orientated
- Medium mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge
- Basic electrical skills
- Advanced troubleshooting skills
- Basic computer skills (MS Office)
- Attendance and punctuality.
Work Environment: Exposure to manufacturing areas (noise, machinery, and moving parts) which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection and slip resistant safety toe shoes.
Physical requirements
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Pushing and pulling up to 35 lbs. using material handling equipment
- Constant walking, handling and using fingers
- Frequent standing and reaching outward
- Occasionally reaching above shoulders, crawling, squatting, kneeling and bending
